Pre-School Programs


Lunch and Tales Ages 3-5 years

  • Tuesday  11:30am-12:30pm (parent must stay in the library)

Children will enjoy a healthy light lunch with stories, games and rhymes. Parents are asked to browse the library or have a coffee or snack at the bistro while their child attends this program.

Mother Goose – Birth to 12 months

A program session for babies and toddlers that puts the emphasis on the caregiver learning new rhymes and skills which will build confidence in early literacy development in a fun and interactive way.

First Steps Story Time – 1 year olds

A cozy library program for one-year-olds and their caregivers, featuring engaging stories, gentle songs, and playful activities to spark early literacy skills and foster a love for learning.

Tiny Twos Adventure Time – 2 year olds

  • Thursday 12:30pm-1:30pm
  • Registration Required
  • Parent Participation Optional/Parents Must Stay in the Library

This program captures it all with age-appropriate books using engaging and interactive techniques; sensory activities that promote early learning though touch, sight, and sound; singing that helps with language development and rhythm; crafts or playtime activities that encourage fine motor skills and creativity; and an opportunity to socialize with other children that helps with social development.

Playdate Fridays – 2 Programs Times – Birth to 5 years

This play based program for you and your child(ren) provides rich learning environments to make friends and interact with others of similar ages. Join this relaxed, unstructured time to learn and grow with your child.


The Chetwynd Public Library has adopted the Every Child Ready to Read program, an early childhood literacy program developed by the American Library Association (ALA). They are all free, require registration and each participant must have their own library card.

The Every Child Ready to Read program is modeled in the library’s programs through songs, stories, rhymes, and activities. Each week, library staff will demonstrate different techniques that will help your child get ready to read.
